June 5th and 6th Rides - Corey Lake in Michigan - COMPLETEDRide Log
The rides on this weekend were excellent. Although there was weather all around us but we slipped in two rides of about 28 miles each on both Saturday and Sunday. These were very hilly rides - up and down the entire way around several small lakes. Then steaks in the evening. All-in-all, a great evening.
Rides for This Weekend
This weekend, we are going to do a little out-of-town trip to Corey Lake in Michigan. It is about two-and-a-half hours from Elmhurst. We will be able to stay at a lake house that is shared by my son and his friends. They have generously agreed to let us use the house for the weekend. There are a lot nice roads and lakes that we can explore.
I will be leaving from my house in Elmhurst at about 10:00am on Saturday morning. We will drive up, get settled and ride in the late afternoon/early evening. After the ride, I'll be grilling up steaks and we can enjoy dinner on the Pontoon boat. Sunday morning we will get up reasonably early and ride somewhere for breakfast. If we are feeling ambitious, we can go to Kalamazoo which is about 37 miles one way.
My son, Chris, will join us and be available to pick anyone up if needed. We have had more than our share of mechanical difficulties this season, so this seems like a good precaution.
If you are going to be coming on this trip, please e-mail me as soon as possible. I will send you the exact address.
You will need to bring either a sleeping bag or a sheet and blanket. There are several beds and some air mattresses. There are two in my car at this time, and with bikes, that will fill me up, but we could do a mini-convoy. If anyone is willing to car pool, please let me know and I'll try to put things together.
