Careful tracking, management, and analysis of the estimating process can provide significant information that will help you estimate more effectively. This workshop focuses on using Microsoft Excel as a simple and widely available technology to help manage the estimating process.

In this workshop, we will examine a way to quantify the profit value of improving your current estimating process. In addition, we will look at how the estimating process can be tracked and managed using a Microsoft Excel template that quickly provides accurate information as to the success of your bidding by customer, job type, job size, and more. We will discuss and provide ways to use this information to improve your chances of winning a profitable job with each estimate you do.

All participants in this workshop will receive several Microsoft Excel templates that they may modify and use in their own business.

If you don’t have time to make it to the ASA Chicago office, this workshop is available via GoToMeeting. You will need a computer connected to the internet and a phone to join the meeting.

Fee: $45 for members of ASA, $65 for non-members
More Information on ASA Web Site http://asachicago.org

Cloud computing is an approach to computing that’s more flexible and lets organizations focus on their core business by insulating them from much of the underlying IT work. At its most basic, it’s computing as a utility – pay for what you need, when you need it, rather than paying for it all upfront. Today, businesses have tremendous choice in what it owns, runs, and uses. Instead of managing machines and software, they manage services.

In this presentation, we will discuss:

Best practices of moving processes to the Cloud

How can the Cloud fit into your applications strategy?

The economics of Cloud computing

Specifically, we will focus on analyzing job profitability using Microsoft Excel. The analysis will help a contractor:

• Find the “sweet spot” of most profitable work
• Quickly and accurately determine most profitable customers
• Evaluate the accuracy and consistency of your estimating

All participants in this workshop will receive a Microsoft Excel template that they may modify and use in their own business.
