Tool: Calculator for Specific Net Check Payroll Amounts Tool Type: Excel Spreadsheet with Sage Master Builder Component
This clever little spreadsheet allows the user to specify an exact net check amount, FICA and Medicare tax rates, Federal Income tax rate, and State Income tax rate, and it returns the correct gross payroll amount and each tax deduction for a simple cut and paste into a Master Builder payroll record.
- Calculate exact net bonus check amounts. For example, calculate the gross payroll and tax deductions required to create a net bonus check of $1,000.
- Create a payroll record to accomodate year-end benefits. For example, calculate the gross payroll to cover a $500 personal use of auto with the appropriate tax deductions and have a net check of zero dollars.
- Calculate correcting payroll records for employees that are no longer active. For example, if you have an employee where there needs to be a FICA adjustment, calculate the gross pay that is needed in a payroll record to cover the adjustment and leave a net check of zero dollars.
Calculations take into account the current FICA cap and gross wages to date of the employee. Rounding errors are resolved prior to entering into Master Builder.
